Our History

Denson Creek Golf Course in Troy, NC – A Premier Golf Destination

Denson Creek Golf Course, located in Troy, NC, has been a new destination for golf enthusiasts since it opened in May 2009. Originally known as the Montgomery County Golf Course, which opened in 1952, the course started with just 9 holes. Over time, an additional 9 holes were added, and today, Denson Creek offers a challenging 18-hole Championship golf course that is perfect for players of all skill levels.

As a public golf course in Troy, Denson Creek offers affordable access to high-quality golf. The course stretches 6,550 yards from the longest tees, featuring a par 72 layout. It boasts a course rating of 71.7 and a slope of 124, making it an exciting challenge for golfers looking for variety and competition. Designed by Phil McCriston, Denson Creek provides a memorable experience amidst the scenic beauty of Montgomery County, NC.

New Management at Denson Creek Golf Course: Welcoming Art Colasanti

In January 2024, the town of Troy, NC, leased Denson Creek Golf Course to Art Colasanti, a veteran golf professional with over 47 years of experience. Colasanti, who earned his PGA card in 1975, has an impressive background, including 30 years with the prestigious Club Corporation of America, a leader in private golf clubs. After retiring in 2013, Colasanti was drawn back to the game and purchased Whispering Woods Golf Club in Pinehurst, NC, in September 2020.

Following a recommendation from golf course designer Dan Maples, Colasanti visited Denson Creek and quickly saw the potential of the course. Collaborating with Greg Zephir and Craig Jones, he finalized plans to take over management of the course. As of January 1, 2024, Colasanti has officially assumed the management of Denson Creek Golf Course, promising exciting improvements and continued excellence for golf lovers in Troy, NC, and beyond.
